Things have been moving along after the camera fiasco. Kate and I were able to film at both Lasalle Park and in Niagara Falls. We are meeting again on Sunday to film the rest at UB North’s overpass.
Kenneth and I met to discuss the project before he left for his 1.5 week conference. We discussed the overpass scene. That was his preferred filming location and I had been thinking of skipping it! Since I still needed one more scene, I decided that the overpass would be the way to go. I can also grab some “reshoots” and extra close-ups. Kenneth asked if I could leave the sound of the spaces in the video so that he could use those in some way to compose the music. Some of the area noise is interesting, so I agreed that this was a good idea. We also discussed the voice over. Kenneth suggested that the voice overs come from different directions at times and change in volume and layers. I really liked this idea and could imagine how that might work with the footage.
Currently, the plan is for me to send Kenneth the final version by early next week. It will be tough to finish with only a few days of editing, since I have to wait until Sunday to film anything major again. Good thing I really enjoy editing; hopefully, I’ll be able to put most of it together Sunday evening and then work things around Monday and Tuesday.
I will need to ask Kenneth to send me what he has before the next showing, which is the week of Nov. 5th. I will also need to double-check that he has someone with voice training for the voice overs.
It seems like the easiest two options for the entire collaborative project were to either finish the film composition or the musical composition first. Having the film finished first makes me a little concerned since I’m not thinking too much about timing, but I should be able to extend and shorten things if need be to fit the music.
So – I have edits of what I have before Sunday to work on and then editing the “final” film version by the end of October. Should be fun!
