
Mary Schnepf earned her Dance MFA from the University at Buffalo with a focus on multi-disciplinary approaches to performance and archival research on the evolution of storytelling, music and dance in the Americas. She currently is the Artistic Director of the Greater Niagara Ballet Company and performs with several area groups, including Buffalo Aerial Dance, Rince na Tiarna, and Onium Contemporary Ballet.
She earned her BS in Theater Design at Buffalo State College and her MAH in Film & Performance at the University at Buffalo while completing internships at Artpark (Musical Theatre) and NBC (Late Night with Conan O’Brien). Her performance credits include roles with Configuration Dance Theatre, Neglia Ballet Artists, Greater Niagara Ballet Company, National Ballet of Canada, Red Thread Theatre, Buffalo Aerial Dance, and Torn Space Theater. Her short dance film “Where Emptiness Lies” was presented in 2018 as part of the 40 North Dance Film Festival and her most recent dance film “As Within So Without” premiered in October 2019 as part of the University at Buffalo’s Zodiaque Dance Company Fall Concert. Mary continues to explore how film can affect and abstract movement and is interested in the possibilities of live dance combined with interactive digital installations.
