We did it! Kenneth sent me his final version of the music, and it worked well with my video edits.
I put the files together to run in the Katharine Cornell Theater for a tech run on the 4th. We ran into a problem, however; the projector and computer in the theater were old and could not play 4K or HD video. I needed to encode the file at a lower resolution. This had the unfortunate result of a lower quality video. Although I think it played fairly well through the system, there were definite moments of the film skipping, and I noticed that entire sequences sometimes were skipped over. The good news is that the music played well, and we had no issues on that end.
Other than the issues mentioned above, things went smoothly for both shows. Next, Kenneth and I are going to work on a slightly longer version for the International Computer Music Festival application which is due at the end of the month. He requested a longer first section which shouldn’t be too much work on my end since I’ve saved all of my earlier versions including one where this sequence was longer. Once that is set, I’ll have to decide which version to submit to Film Freeway and start applying to screendance festivals.
The final 4K version of the film can be found here and also on the Repertoire page:
